Pathway To Boca Grande Beach

This is our most favorite beach on the southwest coast of Florida.  It's about 40 minutes from our home but well worth the drive.  It is on the Gulf of Mexico and the water is the color of the Caribbean.
There is always a breeze and the beach is overseen by the Park Rangers.  There are about a dozen covered structures with BBQ capability and best of all there are restrooms!!!

It is on the Island of Gasprilla which is a little stretch of land that juts out into the Gulf.

Payson Arizona - Desert Land

6 x 18 on heavy linen paper - palette knife - dry brush - alla prima.  Done very quickly with spontaneity in color and form.  When painting the desert a tremendous amount of emotion flows within me as the Southwest desert is me.

Sedona Canyon Grasses

This is 8 x 16 on heavy linen paper done with gusto and spontaneity with palette knife and brush using Professional Chroma Interactive acrylics.  The Southwest - especially Arizona is my heart and soul.  The colors - the desert and the mountains are most always in my dreams.

Ski Santa Fe NM - But a Memory

Well here in Southwest Florida they are predicting temperatures approaching 90 for most of next week.  Soooooo as preparation I figured I'd whip out a winter scene.

Santa Fe has a great ski mountain - called SKI SANTA FE!!!!   Great skiing with the ability to make snow.  In a good year with proper temperatures they open around Thanksgiving and close in the March/April time frame.

At the very top on a clear day you can see some mountains that are in Colorado!!!

This is 9 x 12 on acid free heavy linen paper - professional acrylics - done alla prima very quickly with brush and palette knife.

Coastal Storm Surge - Wellfleet Cape Cod - MA.

When a storm comes into Cape Cod with any fury, the sand dune fences are no challenge for the surge and force of some of these storms.

11 x 14 - heavy linen paper - Chroma Interactive acrylics done with spontaneity and gusto palette knife and brush in a painterly loose & somewhat semi abstract style.

Las Cienegas New Mexico

Las Cienegas  is a cool little place with lots of great desert land to roam.  Spent many hours and hours there throwing paint around - great desert land.

11 x 14 on heavy linen paper - alla prima - Professional acrylic paint in a loose painterly style with spontaneity and a deep love and emotion for the Southwest.

Most of my paintings are started in the same manner - a nice level line for the horizon and then some directional lines for the lay of the land.  The painting is then allowed to develop on its own.
