State Parks

Yo Blog Buddies,

Well, last night we stayed in the Palmetto Island State Park in Abbeville LA.  The Park was nice but we would have to say that it was not our cup of tea. It was about 20 miles from what we would call civilization and it was deep into the woods.  Very pretty in there and the entire area is overgrown with Palmetto Palms.  Lots of birds and even some wild pigs.  However too remote for us.
As soon as we arrived it started raining very-very-very hard as well as thunder and lightening.  We sat in the RV for about 45 minutes before it eased up enough for us to park and setup the electricity and water
We made some dinner and went down to one of the pavilions that overlooks a nice pond and rested and ate - very enjoyable and the scenery is great - but as I say too remote for us.  We did however sleep very well.
When we got up this morning we prepared for departure and when I plugged in the TPMS it started beeping an alert and informed us that the driver side tire on the Honda Fit only had 16 pounds in it instead of 35!!!!!  WHOOPS!!!!
So I got out our 150 PSI air compressor, re-hooked up the electrical and pumped the tire back up to 35 PSI.  We LOVE our air compressor!!!!!!
We went to the ranger station in the park and the nice lady there called a tire repair shop in town - they were open - she gave us directions and off we went to get the tire repaired.
10 minutes later and $15 lighter ( a bargain ) the nail had been removed - the repair made and off we went to find New Orleans!!!!!  :>)

Well - here were are in another State Park - which IS VERY MUCH TO OUR LIKING!!!
Nice open grassed lots  - it has a swimming pool and is more like an actual RV Park than a State Park.
This is Bayou Segnette State Park in Westweg LA - about 5 miles from downtown New Orleans!!!

NOW - in case you don't know, one must say N'AWLEANS!!!!!  My cousin Paul and his DW Deloris found that out when they came here and they passed this info onto us just the other day.  Soooooooo y'all must say N'AWLEANS also!!!!  :>)

As you can see, they also provide WiFi - there is a water ferry just down the road we can drive to and we can take the ferry over to N'AWLEANS which we will do tomorrow as driving in N'AWLEANS is not easy and parking is very expensive.  We'll spend most of the day tomorrow in the city - checking things out, going into shops, listening to jazz and of course seeking out food!!!  Ahhhhhh yes the cuisine of N"AWLEANS!!!!!

My DW Melissa is going to try and put up some photos of the "NICE - BUT - NOT OUR CUP OF TEA" State Park.  Her computer is must faster than mine and for me to try and load photos with a slow computer (netbook) and a slow WiFi - would be an exercise in frustration!!!  Check out her blog www.writeryogini.blogspot.com

We are here for 2 nights - tonight 5/8 and tomorrow 5/9 and it will be lots of fun and a nice rest.

Take care my friends - after here we head out to Pensacola Fl and a night in Fort Pickens State Park - which comes very highy recommended!
